FOR DESCENDANTS
OF THE GERMAN IMMIGRANT Gottlieb Johann Christoph Fischer
He was
born in 1789 and immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 64. He was
accompanied by his wife Catharina Sophia Barbara, née
Willchen (born 1782) and their two daughters Friedericke (born
1814) and Magdalena (born 1819).
The
whole Fischer family did emigrate aboard ship from Hamburg to
Galveston/Texas on the 1st of September, 1853.
Two
sons of the Fischer family had been living in America at that time:
Georg Fischer (born about 1827) was a joiner and
lived in Bragoria/Texas.
Friedrich
Fischer (born about 1824) was a businessman or trader and lived in
Chicago.
Before
he did emigrate Gottlieb Johann Christoph Fischer has worked as a verger
and teacher at the village school of Thulendorf near Rostock in the Grand
Duchy of Mecklenburg for 25 years.
Remark:
We have
a lot of documents on the verger and teacher Gottlieb Johann Christoph
Fischer. We would appreciate any help in finding descendants of the
Fischer family from Thulendorf.
